Romanza Flowers card (for my Mom!) :)

Hello all,

So, I didn't get this card in time for the Aurora Wings 'Mommy and Me' challenge, but it's still a card to enter into the AW Challenge #14 'Flowers'! :D

This base card is a 5x7.

Used the beautiful Aurora Wings Romanza image and colored her in Distress ink and other markers.  Enjoyed coloring in both earthy/muted and colorful shades.

Cut out the lovely image and added her to the brown polka dot patterned paper.

Gold Stickles and Distress marker were used for further embellishment and added the sentiment from 2CuteInk, from the Mother's Day digi.

The very small to small/medium size added flowers were neutral shades.  I could have kept them that way, but I thought it was more fun trying to color them to match the colors I used for the beautiful Romanza lady! :)  The little bit larger pink flowers with the brown pearl embellishment are Prima flowers.

(Plus, I do plan to give this card to my Mom for this year for Mother's Day! :) (Hope she loves it as much as I loved making it for her!) <3

Though, I think this photo shows the gold Stickles a bit better, especially in the bouquet! :D 

((Hmmm...I am not sure if my photos are as clear as I'd like...;( Sorry about that! I hope to fix that  for further posts!)

Flowers are always a lovely token to show someone you care and what better way than for a wonderful Mom on Mother's Day! :)

I always love to add flowers and glitter to my work and this lovely piece is no exception! :)

Sherri Baldy's Fancy Pants Besties,, Tea Time, Image 378 with Blue Patterned Papers!

Hi all!

The weather is fantastic today - in the 80's and loving it at the beginning of May!!!! :)

With that, I am here to share the super cute and happy image, Fancy Pants Tea Time image 378 by Sherri Baldy!

I'm going to enter this card into the My Besties Challenge, #9 Blue Designer Patterned Paper

and also made this card to give to a friend for her 40th birthday! (Hope she likes it!!!)

Colored this super adorable image with Crayola Crayons, Distress Inks and Gold Gelly pen.

Blended the Crayola Crayons with baby oil to smooth out the image a little more.

Used the sentiment from Sweet Pea Stamps and embellished a little more with the handwritten 40's on it and gold accents.

I had various small pieces of the blue papers, Papermania Burleigh Blue paper pack, from other projects and was inspired to make up the background with them from the cute girl's bow on her hat! 

Also, inked the edges of all the papers on the project with Salty Ocean distress ink.

I wanted the image and patterned papers to be the focus, so didn't add any further layers.

Pretty happy with how it turned out! :)

Dark Goblin Queen! :)

This Goblin Queen digi was an awesome freebie I got from SimplyBStamps!


I submitted my entry into the Goblin Queen contest in the SBS Facebook group. 




Part of the rules were to choose either Light or Dark for creating the look of the image.




Figured the Dark side would be a little bit out of my comfort zone when it came to creating cards, so I went that route!




So much fun coloring and making up the card!


Printed her on copy or bond paper (not sure which now...:( ) and started to color the Queen using some more 'ordinary' supplies, like red gel pen and black ink pen for her hair and part of her dress, pencil on the other part of her dress, her eyelids, and for the little goblin! Also, used green highlighter marker for the Queen and goblin eye color! :)


Also this is my first attempt at 'highlighting' hair! :)  So please be kind! :)


Then moved on to use some Prismacolor pencil, green for her skin and purple for the rest of her dress. Loved how saturated the colored pencil got as I used some water to blend it.


The wings I colored in green colored pencil (Crayola brand I believe) then added gold Stickles! :)


After the image itself was colored, I knew it needed a little more stability then just the paper she was printed on.  So, I cut her out and glued her to a 110 lb. piece of white cardstock, cut that out again then adhered to the red cardstock.


The rest of background cardstock, patterned pieces and rhinestones were in my stash and I had fun creating the rest of the card backed onto a pre-scored White 5x7 card!

Added some final touches by adding gold Gelly pen squiggles/dots for interest and since I thought there was a little too much white space from the cut out portions of thinner paper and cardstock on the image, I added gold Gelly pen lines around the edges for extra pop! :)

Steampunks!!!! :D

Hi!

Snowed a little more overnight.......blah! Though it wasn't as bad as it could've been! (Thank goodness!)

Onto more happy thoughts.....

First card to describe a little more about is Gwendolyn!
She is one of many favorites of the Steampunks! 
The Tuesday Outlawz challenge this week had a 'tic tac toe' format.  I chose the Pink, Yellow and Orange colors and had to add gemstone(s) to my creation.

I decided to do a mix of light and muted shades of these three colors.  Used crayons, markers and colored pencils to color Gwendolyn. 

Her skin color I used a colored pencil, colored her hair in markers and a couple shades of pink crayons for her dress, with a few accents with pink marker and some pink stickles added to the ribbons on her dress.

Her leggings, for instance, I colored in a sun yellow crayon, then colored over it with a yellow/orange distress marker and rubbed any excess ink with a cotton swab.  Then colored her boots with a few different shades of orange crayon.

Though, I wasn't sure that I liked how those parts turned out, so I added yellow Stickles to the leggings and a distress orange Stickles to the boots.  I really think it came out great! :)

Layered various types of cardstock and papers  (textured cardstock, construction paper, and patterned paper) to make up the background and put it onto a pre-scored white card.

Then I cut her out and glued her to the front. 

For extra sparkle and fun (and to follow the challenge) added some rhinestone gems to the corners of the papers and some pink and orange Stickles to parts of the cardstock.

Hope you like her....I do! :)

Now to the next lovely Steampunk - Bella the Vampire! :)

Knowing that I was going to enter her into the monochromatic challenge, I chose my favorite color of purple to try a full creation of purple! <3

Went through my stash to collect as many purple items as I could, various shades of purple cardstock, smooth and textured, flowers, brads, and rhinestones.

Colored Bella with crayons and colored pencils and then close cut the image.  Handwrote the sentiment (with squiggly lines ;) ) onto a small piece of light purple cardstock  and glued them both to the front of the card. 

This was such a fun card to create! :)

Proud to present - Everything Is Coming Up Roses AW challenge cards!

Hi! Happy Friday! :D

 

The Aurora Wings Facebook challenge, Everything is Coming Up Roses, was super fun to create cards for! :D These images are a few of my many favorite from Aurora Wings, which I bought from her Etsy shop! Though they can also be found in her digital stamps section of her website!

 

Based on the title of the challenge, we needed to use roses in at least part of our project...in papers, colors, embellishments, etc.

 

I tried really hard to follow the theme as much as I could for each card!

 

(The first card has the most description of how I made it, so please bear with me. ;) It was the card I really worked very hard to make, so I wanted to make sure I explained it...;) )

 

About the first card:

 

The Kitten in a Teacup is one of my favorite of the AW kittens! I had to get a little more creative with putting this card together and I feel that it's probably my favorite of these three cards! Though I am happy with how they all turned out! :)

 

Tried to take the photo in a way to really show off the pearlescent paint in the cup and saucer! :D

 

 

About the image itself - I used watercolor pencils for the cat itself, background roses, blue just around the roses, roses and leaves on the teacup. Thought a green distress marker would make the eyes stand out a little more.

 

I was inspired by the digital coloring of the teacup in the sample coloring on the AW Etsy page that I wanted to use a pearlescent paint to color in the actual teacup and use a gold Gelly pen for the rim of the cup and saucer.  Then added in a little more gold color, used a gold yellow color watercolor pencil for the tablecloth. 

 

I am pretty proud of it and think it turned out great...if I do say so myself. ;D I hope you can see these particular details too! :D

 

I then backed the image on a light pink cardstock. 

 

Looking through my supplies, I found a brand new couple sets of stamps I had not found the right card or project for until this challenge inspired me to finally use them!  The two teacups I used on this card came from a teapot/teacup set of rubber stamps and the sentiment had the perfect vibe for this card and came from a set of sentiment clear stamps. 

 

To contrast the sentiment and teacup images I alternated the rose color and yellow gold color cardstock to also tie in to the colored kitten image.  Used three different inks in my stash, two browns and a black ink, for fun! :)

 

Then when I was done with these pieces of the card, I realized the largest card size I had was a pre-scored 5x7 card and envelope and didn't think that would be enough room at all to showcase the images or the sentiment without overlapping them.  Thought that they each needed to shine in their own way on the card!  So, I had to get a little more creative....

 

I had some 9x12 size watercolor paper in my newer collection of supplies and haven't gotten to use it very often. So, I experimented with THAT being my card base! :)

 

Even though the watercolor paper has it's own texture, I didn't want to leave the card with that much white space, so I attempted to make my own background on it! :)

 

A photo of the same card in a different lighting below - see how this angle you don't notice the pealescent paint or gold Gelly pen?! The cup and saucer just appear gray and the rim of the cup and saucer look brown?!! How misleading a photo can be!!!!

(Dear goodness dare I mention the black/blue - yellow/gold dress photo that went viral this week all over the internet and tv this week! lol!)

 

*Ahem* Anyway...back to the card making! :D

This background proved difficult for me, but given my first try at a watercolor background, I am proud of my accomplishment! :) 

  



I chose pink and red shades for the background to keep with the challenge's theme and wanted to add some blue to tie in with the blue background behind the roses in the kitten image itself. :) I used mostly watercolor pencils for this watercolor background of course, but I did add a little crayon and regular colored pencil blended with baby oil to fill in a few places where the watercolor pencil just wasn't working out as I'd hoped.

For a little more final touches to this card, I added an extra dot of white in the Kitten's eyes with a white Gelly pen, put together two petals and a mini brad for a corner flower embellishment and added one more piece of cardstock in a bright fuchsia shade to distinguish the rose colored cardstock already behind the image and the pink and red shades of the watercolor background.

 

About the second card:

 

Believe in Tommorow Fairy is such a sweet image with her being surrounded by so many flowers and even a little butterfly! :)

 

For this card, I wanted to make a little more colorful overall! I made sure to color the roses a typical red shade, then had fun picking and choosing a variety of other colors for the rest of the scene! :)  I colored the flowers and fairy with watercolor pencils, some white Gelly pen, and markers.  I then colored in the white space behind the fairy in a light pink to add some softness to the image and keep with the Rose theme.

It's hard to see the sentiment in certain lighting because of the vellum, but hope you can see it alright in the photo below:

Added some gold Stickles to her wings and some Glossy Accents to the wings of the butterfly for some fun texture and dimension. :) 

 

Used a 5x7 pre-scored card as the base.  When I was ready to make the image into a full card I thought the space behind the fairy would take up too much room on the card, so I cut out around the fairy and the flowers and left just enough of the light pink to show and then added it to a medium pink shade cardstock and a couple more pieces of textured red cardstock for the background.

 

When I saw this vellum sentiment sticker in my stash, I really thought it was exactly the right words for this little fairy that appears to be praying in her flower garden!

 

Added a couple more pieces of textured red cardstock to the card for the background, some various rhinestone and gems to the sentiment to make it stand out even more!  Two mini orange brads with some Stardust Stickles were added to the corners and edges of the card for some added sparkle and fun! 

 





It's hard to see the shine of the Stickles or Glossy Accents as much in the other photo, but hope you can see it in the one below: :) 

Last, but not least...the third card:

Marie Antoinette with her cupcake! Love her! :)

This is such an adorable and elegant image at the same time! I had such fun coloring her!
I certainly wanted to add rose colors into this image, but again, to include a little more color as well.
Colored the image with markers and some watercolor pencils!

To give her a little more unusual look to the rest of the card, I thought the amber brown eyes would be a nice touch! Hope you agree! :)

Added some white Gelly pen to parts of the flowers, feather and her lacey choker. 
A little glossy accents were added to her lips, cupcake's frosting, the gem on her dress and her eyes! :) (I couldn't get a good photo to show that off...but hope you can see it at least in her eyes?!)

Cut her out and backed her on a piece of red cardstock and rounded the corners with my corner punch.  I found this rose 'wallpaper' looking patterned paper in my stash and absolutely had to include it in this card! Backed the piece on a pre-scored 5x7 card for the base.

The sentiment of 'things I Love' with the rose is a post-it style tab that I have had in my stash for a long time and was glad I could add it for this wonderful challenge!

For some extra sparkle (never a bad thing, in my opinion, especially on my cards and creations!), I added some mini rhinestones! :D

Fairy Kitten, ADFD challenge #115, Add Some Glitter

About this card....hope you like it! It's the Fairy Kitten image that I got as a freebie from A Day For Daisies (ADFD) blog.  Love this image!




Used the image to make a Thank You card and entering it into the ADFD blog Add Some Glitter challenge!


The white pre-scored base card is about 4x5.  I resized the Fairy Kitten images to fit onto the card and tried my hand once more at a more Clean and Simple (CAS) format.

(p.s. This card I wasn't able to get more than 1 fairly decent photo, but hope you can still see the details and image well enough!)

Colored each Fairy Kitten a different color with watercolor pencils, black, orange and brown, and used a light pink colored pencil to add a little color to the ears and just wanted to lightly outline the images to give the wings a little more oomph :).

Used a pink, lavender and bright green colored pencil for the wings and tried to not color them in the same order, so there would be some contrast. Added Green Stickles to the green portions of the wings and I think it was Stardust Stickles to the other parts of the wings. Then added a little extra sparkle with a silver Gelly pen to the antennae and nose of each kitten.

I generally cut out each kitten, instead of a more exact fussy cut as the antennae and parts of the fur were too delicate.  Glued each one onto the card and left space to write in the sentiment.

Used a black fine tip marker to handwrite the Thank You Fairy Much sentiment. :) Though it was a cute way to tie in the image for the thank you card.

Added a few hand drawn starburst with a green marker and green Stickles to each center for a final touch. :)

Whiskerteers! :D

Hi!

These two super adorable digis are from Mitzi Sato-Wiuff of Aurora Wings!

One is a digi of just the cute animals, The Three Whiskerteers, and the other one is the animals with the beautiful flowers, The Three Whiskerteers fancy version with flowers! :)

I love these images and they can now be found in here in Mitzi's Etsy shop! :)

The first one, The Three Whiskerteers, I am entering into Stamps by Aurora Wings 2K Members Celebration Coloring Contest on Facebook! :D

I colored the animals with my new set of 96 Crayola Crayons and used the technique of baby oil and a cotton swab for the blending.  :) Backed the image onto a yellow cardstock.  Then decorated the edges of the card with various colorful pieces of cardstock scraps and filled in the 'nooks and crannies' so to speak, with my distress marker, Tumbled Glass.

Then cut a circle in a richer yellow gold cardstock, edged it with distress marker, Spiced Marmalade.  Then added letter stickers and edged those in gold Gelly pen.  

Pretty happy with how these came out and really love the many ways you can color up the animals! Very versatile! :D

The next card I used The Three Whiskateers fancy version with Flowers digi!  I am entering it into Stamps by Aurora Wings 2K Members Celebration Coloring Contest on Facebook as well as Aurora Wings Blog challenge #12, My Lucky Color(s)! :D

Colored up the image with water and regular color pencils!  Also, tried to make a little contrast in each animal with the purples I did have on hand.  

With the intention of entering this one into the My Lucky Color(s) challenge, I originally was going to just use my favorite color, purple.  However, when I made this, I didn't have enough of a variety of purples to show much contrast.  So, I decided to add in the green and red colors.  

This ties into the idea of the challenge too, since I could choose colors that were meaningful to me and not just a favorite/lucky color.  I chose the greens for my Mom and Sister's favorite color of Green and my Dad's favorite color of Red.  

It was fun (and challenging) to work on this card, but I had fun with it! :)

After I colored up the image, I cut it out to back on a grape color purple cardstock.  Then found the green and purple patterned papers in my stash.

Since I'd already cut out the image as I did, and only had so much of these particular patterned papers, figured out a way to fit them on the card without them getting lost in layering.  So, I cut them to make a more interesting 'sketch' if you will.  

I added the darker mini star brads (as it reminds me of my sister) and the mini red brads to add a little more red into the card.

I thought that the card could use a little more something and noticed the white space at the edge of the card.  So, thought it would be fun to keep also with the flowers in the image and draw in some flowers and leaves with my distress markers in purple, red and green.

It's a little different than some of the cards I have made in the past, but I really enjoyed making it and think it came out cute!

Autumn Fairy Princess, pink.teal.yellow!

Hi!

I hope everyone has been staying warm with this crazy winter - no matter where you are in the U.S.! Brrrrr!!!

With that, I've been working on several images...yay! :)

One of which is the gorgeous Autumn Fairy Princess that can be found here at Sweet Pea Stamps (SPS)!

I'm going to enter this card into the challenges for the SPS Friends and Fans, February 9th-22nd Progressive Challenge as well as the Outlawz Challenges, Friday coloring that SPS is sponsoring! :)

The Outlawz challenge had a color palette that needed to be followed and I've been wanting to color up this Fairy Princess for a while, so thought this was the perfect chance. :)

I used both markers and Crayola crayons to color her! I'm still learning with techniques, though used baby oil to blend the parts of her dress and wings that I only colored with the crayons.

The thorned vines I colored in marker and used a metallic crayon in a similar color to add some extra sparkle.  It may be hard to see, but I tried to get a little close up. :D

I didn't fuzzy cut her out, but cut around her still fairly close to be able to have room for the yellow and teal cardstock to show on the card, as well as the light pink patterned paper.  I inked the edges slightly with my distress marker on the pink paper as well.

To finish off the card, I wanted to keep it simple, so added mini rhinestones on the corners, just for a little extra something.

Love Angel!!! CAS, Hearts and more! :)

This adorable image, Love Angel, is from A Day For Daisies (ADFD) digital stamps!

Tammy, the owner, offered it as a freebie on her ADFD blog during one of her challenges!

Love it! :)

I colored up the image and was excited to enter it, but then time got away from me and I missed the deadline. :(

Though I was able to find other challenges to enter this in and I look forward to making time for one of ADFD's other challenges though!

Colored the super cute angel with distress markers, other markers, ink and a gel pen.
The hair I used a distress ink and a dry paintbrush with a little water to blend.  The wings I colored with marker then highlighted with gold Stickles, The hearts, bowl and skin were other markers and the clothing was colored in with a white Gelly pen.  The halo was colored in with a gold Gelly pen.

After coloring up the Angel, I found some other challenges which help me make my decisions on how I was going to create the final card and was happy with how it came out!

Going to enter this into this week's CAS challenge of adding hearts and/or flowers to the CAS card on Outlawz Challenges site ,

So, I knew it had to be Clean and Simple. :)  I fussy cut out the Angel, halo and the three hearts! I back the Angel with the halo onto a dark pink cardstock and used a corner punch for two of the corners for a little more interest.  Then off set it to the left side of the card so there was room for the three hearts.

I am also entering this into another challenge on Outlawz Challenge site, Greeting Card challenge to add "inchies" of two or more with a sentiment on the front of the card.

I used my inch square punch to cut out three squares, 1 in a medium pink and 2 in light pink and made sure there was enough room to add them to the bottom of the card.  Then I searched through my stash and found some 'conversation hearts' rub on transfers that I have been meaning to use for a very long time! :)

The final challenge for this card is on Aurora Wings Challenge Blog for Valentine's Day!
(Though since this image isn't one of  Mitzi Sato-Wiuff's  images, I can just enter one card to that challenge.)
